The Athens Philharmonic (Φιλαρμονική Αθηνών - «ΦΑ») has its roots in the Cyprus Academy of Music (Established 1956 by Madam Despo Hadjiloizou-Frangakou - Yiannis' Piano Teacher), the Nicosia Music Society (Established 1971 by Michael Hadjiloizou - Yiannis' Father), and the Cyprus Philharmonic Orchestra (Established 2007 by Yiannis).

 

«ΦΑ» was conceived and brought to life on December 28, 2018 by Yiannis Hadjiloizou during the funeral of Greek Composer & Conductor Theodore Antoniou, Yiannis' mentor and close friend since their common days in Boston, Massachusetts beginning 2004.

The mission statement has been clear since the very beginning. To make the Athens Philharmonic the greatest cultural ambassador of Greece to the World, and contribute at large towards the betterment of humankind, as one of the greatest institutions in existence today, and into the centuries.
